*tap* *tap* … Is this thing on? 09May07 | 0
Evenin’ all. My name is Alan Quatermain. They tell me I’m descended from my namesake, publicised by the great H. Rider Haggard many years ago now. A great-great-great-great uncle or something like that.
For those interested in that sort of thing, I hate to disappoint you but I’m not actually a famed outdoorsman. Ah well.
My hunting grounds consist of the innards of the Apple Macintosh and its operating system, and, lately, the AppleTV and the BackRow interface & content framework therein. I’ve been a regular on AwkwardTV and have written some tutorials on BackRow programming on their wiki, and on their forums. Those tutorials will be reproduced here, along with screencasts and the like, which will be podcasted via iTunes et al.
Ultimately, I’ll see if I can’t write a book about the AppleTV and how to write software for it. That would be quite useful, I think. Provided Apple don’t squash me like a bug in the meantime of course….
More to come later, because I have naturally picked the busiest day of my week to be doing all this. Yeah, that’s just how organised I am. See this filing system here? No?
Exactly.
